All routes point to Valencia in Spain for the ABB FIA Formula E Championship this week where leading team NIO will join its fellow Season 5 competitors for the eagerly awaited three-day official pre-season test, which begins on Tuesday, 16th October.
Hot on the heels of NIO’s spectacular 2018/2019 launch ceremony in the Copper Box at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London last week, where French driver Tom Dillmann was confirmed alongside Oliver Turvey for the new Formula E campaign, the squad is absolutely relishing the first group test of the autumn.
Notably too, of course, this week’s outing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia will be the first chance for fans to see the newly liveried Acronis-branded teal and white #BlueSkyComing NIO 004 Generation 2 race chassis in action.
NIO’s exciting new driver line-up of Dillmann and Turvey will be looking to make the best possible start to official preparations for Season 5, which begins in Saudi Arabia in December, and all at the team are determined to get the pre-season programme underway successfully.
Gérry Hughes, Team Principal, NIO Formula E Team:
“After a long summer of testing as a Manufacturer outfit, the three-day pre-season test at Valencia is the first time officially that the NIO Formula E Race Team will re-group since the New York e-Prix which rounded off Season 4.
It will also be the first time Oliver and Tom will be driving together as team-mates and whilst they will both be working through their own test programs, it will be interesting to see how the newest addition to the NIO Formula E Team fares against the well-established Briton.”
