NIO Received TÜV Rheinland Certificates With Improved Carbon Management Capabilities
On April 7, NIO was awarded two certificates for validating and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions based on the ISO 14064 standard by the international independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification body TÜV Rheinland Greater China (TÜV Rheinland). On the same day, NIO ET5, 150KW IM EDS, 210kW PM EDS and NIO 75kWh Battery Pack were awarded TÜV Rheinland's product carbon footprint certificates based on ISO 14067. This is also the first time for NIO to get product carbon footprint certification for vehicles, electric drive systems and batteries.
The GHG validation and verification measures and and verifies the carbon emissions by an enterprise over a certain period of time. Product carbon footprint certification refers to the quantification and verification of the carbon emissions generated during the whole lifecycle of a product, including raw material acquisition, production, transportation and distribution, product usage and waste recycling.
Being awarded the GHG validation and verification certificates and product carbon footprint certificates shows that NIO has passed the comprehensive analysis, audit and certification for GHG emissions by an independent third-party body, and the certification results are in line with international mainstream standards. It also represents a solid step of NIO in the quantification and management of GHG emissions, providing a strong support for the development of carbon emission reduction strategies and roadmap.
The certification ceremony was held at NIO Experience Center | Nanxiang in Jiading District, Shanghai. Weimin Fang, Vice President of People & Business Assurance, TÜV Rheinland Greater China, Lutz, Frankholz, Manager Director of TÜV Rheinland Shanghai and Suzhou Company, and other delegates attended the certification ceremony. TÜV Rheinland congratulated NIO on its successful certification, and mentioned that it would continue to leverage its rich experience and global resources in the field of low-carbon and sustainability to assist NIO in accelerating the green and low-carbon transformation.
After the ceremony, delegates from TÜV Rheinland were invited to visit NIO House, Gallery, Power Swap Station, etc., and test-drove the latest models to further the understanding of NIO's products and services. After the visit, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as certification and regulations regarding carbon emissions.
