NYC Double-header Wraps-up Formula E Season This Weekend

New York City, regarded by many as the greatest metropolis in the world, hosts the finale of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship this weekend, 13th/14th July.

Not one but two races will take place in the shadow of the Manhattan skyline, and NIO drivers Oliver Turvey and Tom Dillmann will head into the double-header as determined as ever to produce the best performance possible.

British racer Turvey, of course, has two points finishes to his credit so far in Season 5 with Frenchman Dillmann still seeking his first score of the 2018/2019 campaign having been close on more than one occasion.

As Formula E returns to North America this coming weekend, the third year in succession in New York for the all-electric championship, both competitors are certainly hoping for a trouble-free double-header race event

Round 12 around Brooklyn Circuit will take place on Saturday afternoon, with round 13 following on Sunday. As always, all of the action can be viewed live online at the Formula E You Tube Channel, through the Formula E Facebook page, via the BBC iPlayer and on TV as well, with British Eurosport and Quest both carrying the action.

Oliver Turvey, Race Driver, NIO Formula E Team:

“I am looking forward to the final two races of the season in New York, as it is one of the most iconic cities in the world. Although it has been a tough season, I will keep fighting to get the most out of the car and take any opportunities in the final two races to score points for the team.”

Tom Dillmann, Race Driver, NIO Formula E Team:

“I have good memories from New York having scored some of my strongest results in Formula E in Season 3 and 4. It has been a challenging season, but we will keep on pushing to extract everything from our package and close the championship on a high if we can.”

Gérry Hughes, Team Principal, NIO Formula E Team:

“Clearly this has not been the season that any of us in the NIO Formula E Team would have wished for and whilst it has been a challenge for all concerned, we have learnt a huge amount during the season and as such, we as a team are richer for the experience.

New York is always a spectacular venue for the Formula E event and with this being a double-header we are all focused on producing strong qualifying and race results over the two days in the Big Apple. This is Formula E and if there is one thing that we have learnt along the way, is that the race results are never a foregone conclusion.
