NIO is proud to announce a new two-race partnership with Miba, one of the world’s leading strategic partners to the engine and automotive industry, for the upcoming ABB FIA Formula E Championship events in China and Italy.
The newly confirmed deal builds on a partnership first established between the two brands last season. This year, Miba will be an official partner of NIO for the Sanya E-Prix and Rome E-Prix.
Established in 1927 in Austria, Miba now employs 7,400 staff across 26 sites and is ready to become a world leader in its field within the EV industry. The partnership with NIO, therefore, makes the most of a natural synergy between the two companies.
Miba’s core mission ‘Innovation in Motion – Technologies for a Cleaner Planet’ is the basis for the link-up with NIO in Formula E, the world’s only all-electric single-seater racing series, where Miba supplies resistors vehicle production at NIO’s manufacturing base in China.
With a product portfolio including sintered components, engine bearing, friction materials, power electronics components and coatings, Miba – like NIO – strives to continually become more efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly.
Miba branding will feature on the cars of Oliver Turvey and Tom Dillmann in China dn Italy, and NIO will also provide an opportunity for a Miba student to undertake a day placement with the squad’s advanced engineering team at Begbroke Science Park in Oxfordshire.
Gérry Hughes, Team Principal, NIO Formula E Team:
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Miba back to the NIO family for both the Sanya and Rome race events, for what is proving to be a truly memorable season in the all-electric single-seater championship that is Formula E. As a key supplier of power electronics to NIO’s road car production, it is obviously great for us to build on this exisiting relationship and strengthen the technical collaboration between these two great brands.”
F.Peter Mitterbauer, CEO, Miba:
“Miba is ready to support the automotive industry with innovative technologies for e-mobility. We have developed a wide range of solutions for hybrid and pure electric vehicles that we already supply to many customers in the industry. As NIO is one of these partners we are happy to join forces once again with their Formula E team for the races in China and in Rome.”
China’s Sanya e-Prix, round six of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship season, will take place on Saturday, 23rd March.
