13 March 2018, Oxford, UK: Barry Mortimer has been assigned the role of Sporting Director within the NIO Formula E Team, bolstering his current position of NIO Performance Programme Operations Director.
Barry was a new recruit to the NIO Formula E Team for the 2016/17 season and joined from Team Aguri where he was Head of Team Operations. He has a wealth of motorsport management experience and has held positions at Virgin Formula E Team as well as the Lotus and Renault F1 Teams.
Barry started with NIO as Team Manager and was promoted in March 2017 to Operations Director of the Performance Programme, running the EP9 electric supercar User Experience Programme in China. His recent appointment will see Barry adopt the role of FIA Sporting Liaison for the NIO Formula E Team.
