The NIO ET7, its flagship smart all-electric sedan, and its NIO Power DC Charger have won the Good Design Awards. NIO has been recognized as a visionary manufacturer, with the NIO ET7 and NIO Power DC Charger named amongst the best new car and transportation designs of 2021.
The Good Design Awards is organized by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in cooperation with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies and the Metropolitan Arts Press. Now in its 71st year, an international jury of experts adjudicated and bestowed awards on the leading and best contemporary design produced worldwide.
At NIO, “Driven by Design” is one of our supporting virtues as we strive to provide the best user experience. With the NIO ET7, NIO’s design teams in Munich and Shanghai, led by Tomasson, successfully collaborated to create a smart, all-electric sedan with more than 100 standard comfort, safety, and smart features to deliver the ultimate driving experience.
“Sophisticated simplicity motivated every design choice on the exterior of the ET7,” explained Kris Tomasson, NIO’s VP of Design. “We wanted to reimagine the premium vehicle experience completely: the result is pure and refined with sleek lines, while the interior is very human. We have created a cozy ‘second living space’ with natural light, controlled airflow through hidden vents, and introduced the texture of warm, organic, and sustainable rattan, Karuun®.”
Also recognized in the Good Design Awards, the NIO Power DC Charger is a critical component of the NIO Power offering. It is the slimmest DC (Direct Current) charger in the world. Capable of charging at up to 180kW and 250A, it increases battery level from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes, providing fast, smart, and reliable charging services.
The Good Design Awards add to NIO’s recent accolades: the Just Auto 2021 Excellence Awards named NIO as Disruptor Firm of the Year, while NIO secured its fourth Red Dot Award in 2021 for the design of the NIO ET7.
